Today, I share five new and old haiku about silence. They might be the last for a while. No, I am not giving up writing. I move on. For a couple of weeks, I felt that the haiku form had become too restrictive. I started to play with other forms (which I haven’t shared yet.) And I long for more non-poetic, free expression.
No More Haiku? Maybe… Here’s Why
Last night, I remembered a title for a fairytale I always wanted to write. The title came to me in 2016. And then, I couldn’t write the story. There was nothing but the title for a whole seven years! Now I know what it wants to be. So I will write it sometime over the next few days.
And there always has been another idea: Exploring the theme of silence. Not only in writing haiku about silence but also in making a long – yet unfulfilled dream – come true. It is creating a space of silence. Digital/online, but physical, too. Free of religion, free of dogma. Just a space to connect with the truest parts of you.
I don’t know where and when it will materialize. But I know it will. Many people fear silence. For a long time, I didn’t understand why. Now, I do. So, I want to provide a safe space to open up to one’s silence. That’s where everything is emerging from.
To cut a long story short. Expect some changes over the next few weeks. And here they are
Five new and old haiku about silence
calm your busy mind –
in the wisdom of silence
you’ll find everything
counting all the waves
I rest my head in silence
to let my heart speak
as the moon rises
nature holds her breath in awe
the last flowers fade
my garden turns to silence
there’s too much story
in seventeen syllables
I prefer silence
And Here Comes A Tanka As Bonus
in a noisy world
silence is for the lonely
and the heart-broken
but silence bears a presence
you can’t put yet into words
Your Thoughts On Silence
I hope you enjoyed my haiku of silence and that they struck a chord in you to go within and explore yours.
Last but not least, I have a question for you. How do YOU feel about silence? Do you love it? Do you want to have more of it in your life? Do you fear it? Do you have a story to share?
